We were founded on the simple principles that customers should be able to own the right vehicle at the right price, even if their credit is less than stellar, and independent car dealers should be able to serve those customers, profitably.
The key to our ability to service both the customer and dealer is in what we call Responsible Lending. We use multiple factors to determine whether to finance a particular sale, which goes far beyond basic credit analysis. We analyze the vehicle, to ensure that the customer is being sold a vehicle which has a high likelihood of serving them well, beyond the term of the loan, and at a competitive price. We analyze the dealer’s performance to ensure that we are working with reputable dealers who treat their customers fairly. We also review the customer’s particular case, which requires far more than a simple credit score, and often work with both the customer and the dealer to structure a purchase that makes sense for everyone.
Responsible Lending takes far more effort and insight than so-called “black box” lending and requires the use of rigorous sales controls and procedures, sophisticated operations capabilities, high levels of service to both customers and dealers, proprietary technologies and analytics, and unyielding governance. We invest in these every day to ensure that our customers can own a reliable vehicle while strengthening their credit and so that the dealers that we work with can sell the right cars at the right price, profitably.
